Hi Ben and Bre, just want to say congrats on getting the best job in the world!!!
) Look forward to your mutterings on daily life in and around this gorgeous island. Bre, I agree with Bridget above, would be nice to get your take on things too, if you don’t have a blog (which I find hard to believe) you should set one up – and quick!
)
Am adding you to my blog list and can’t wait for the next post, take care xx

What a great job! I thought it was a deserted island!!! It’s a Vacation Destination! How very cool is that… You and Breanna get to live a vacation for 6 months!!! Chance of a lifetime dude! I look forward to seeing as much as you can show us! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to visit Australia! What a stroke of marketing genius this is… GOT MY ATTENTION.

Hi Pingback, great that you’ve taken the time to post a comment relating to my work, thank you.
Just to clear up a few things with you:
1) “Melanesia“? WTF is “Malansia“? Melanesia (from Greek: μέλας black, νῆσος island) literally means “islands of the black-skinned people”. It is a subregion of Oceania extending from the western side of the West Pacific to the Arafura Sea, north and northeast of Australia.
2) Ben, we have been metric for 30 years – so WTF is 18″6′? After spending the afternoon with one of the most interesting men I’ve ever met, George Craig, and having him explain everything about his world and his love of crocodiles, he refers to everything in good old imperial. An era in which legends were born. It was a mark of respect for him and his ways.
3) Cassius is believed to be 60-80 years old, not 100 – You can take this point up with George personally as he told it to me less than two hours ago!
4) And don’t get me started on you calling it “expresso” coffee the other day – I stand corrected here as I always thought it was an expresso – oh well every day’s a school day!
5) Since arriving to start your job on July 1, you have succeeded in sending about 25 tweets. That’s about two a day. Pathetic. You can’t even claim that you’ve been spending all your time updating your blog. Your latest post was July 3 (http://www.bestjobben.com/2009/07/03/when-i-get-a-second-i-promise-ill-write-more/). You’re not on *&*&T$#%% holidays – you’re supposed to be working!
– Not sure if you were expecting the Australian Taxpayer to sponsor me a satellite BGAN system in order to send my tweets and update my webpages but if you hadn’t noticed the job does cover the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef unlike the mobile phone reception.
6) OK, so you’ve got an official blog happening at http://www.islandreefjob.com, but it’s really not much of an ask – If you’d care to look at the official website you’d see the latest post from a few days ago.
Enjoy the read and thanks for your comments.
Ben
